Why I Believe Anyone Can Achieve Anything
ANYONE can achieve ANYTHING.
Think about this…How many sprints did Usain Bolt run before he won his first Olympic gold medal? How many laps did Michael Phelps swim before he broke his first world record? There is an exact answer to both of these questions. Maybe it’s 1,005,671 laps or 653,490 sprints. Most likely, even Usain and Michael don’t even know the answer, but the fact is there IS an answer. There IS a number that both of these two had to reach to get their first Olympic medal and achieve their life-long goals.
When we set out to achieve something, we’re eventually met with doubt both from ourselves and from others that we will ever achieve our goal. We start to think that the finish line doesn’t exist because what we want can’t actually be achieved. When you start to think this, you need to remember two things: there IS a finish line and the only things you need to get there are time and effort.
Just like with Usain and Michael, every goal for every person has a specific finite number that, when you reach it, you will have achieved the goal you wanted. It is just a matter of time put in and effort put forth. This number is different for everyone and it isn’t “one size fits all.” Maybe for Michael he had to swim 2 million laps to win Olympic gold, but for your next-door neighbor, he might have to swim 4 million to achieve that same goal. It’s different for everyone, but there IS a number. ANYONE can achieve ANYTHING. It’s just about putting in the time and effort required to get there.
Even during the days it doesn’t feel like it, every quality step you take moves you one step closer to your goal. For me, knowing that the only thing between me and my goal is time and effort is the exact thing that wakes me up every morning. It is the reason why I’m motivated even when no one else believes in me.
I wake up every morning excited to take two or three more steps closer towards reaching that finish line because I know it’s only a matter of time until I get there.
