Dream Chasing and Attempting the Impossible
When I was very young, I came across this quote which has since become my life motto:
“To achieve all that is possible, you must attempt the impossible;
To be as much as you can be, you must dream of being more;
Your dream is the promise of all that you can become.”
We hear people all the time say, “When I was younger, I wanted to be…” and then say, “but that’s just not how life goes.” It’s sad to hear stories like these because these people have given up on their dreams and admitted that the reality of life was too much to overcome. The first line of the quote does not say that you will reach the impossible; it says that you must attempt it. In failure, there is growth, so by seeking the impossible you will grow into something greater. By dreaming of being more than you are and attempting to become that, you will become more than you are. It took me a long time to figure out what the true message was, and it is this: a dream is not something you want to do, it is someone you want to become. In chasing after the things you want to do, even in failure you will become the person you always wanted to be. We must never lose sight of our dreams because it is in the process of chasing them that we become the best version of ourselves. Not through attaining the goal but in the process of attempting to attain it. Fight for what you want, and when you stumble, be grateful because in every failure there is growth.
