Carnegie’s 10 Principles for Greatness
Andrew Carnegie was, and is still, one of the wealthiest men to have walked this planet. His rags-to-riches story is inspiring to say the least. Throughout his life, Carnegie’s net worth would skyrocket to $372 billion dollars by the time he passed away. Rather than keeping this money for himself, he unselfishly gave away almost 90% of his fortune to charities, schools, and foundations.
Over his very successful life, Carnegie came to realize 10 basic principles from which he thought, if utilized, others could achieve similar heights as he did.
Andrew Carnegie’s Ten Principles for Greatness
1. Have a definitive purpose. Create a plan of action and work towards it immediately.
2. Create a “Master Alliance” of people who work with you and who have skills you lack.
3. Go the extra mile and always do more than what is required.
4. Practice “applied faith”. Believe in yourself and your purpose so fully that you act with complete confidence.
5. Have personal initiative and be self-motivated.
6. Indulge in your imagination and think outside of what has already been done.
7. Exert enthusiasm, have a positive attitude, and always carry energy.
8. Think accurately, separate facts from fiction, depersonalize the task at hand, and use accurate vocabulary.
9. Focus on the task at hand to give it maximum effort.
10. Use adversity to your advantage to make the proper adjustments for further growth.
By implementing these ten principles, you can learn to live with purpose, live with focus, and achieve the goals you REALLY want no matter what goal it is.
